The Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) has successfully conducted a two-day Online Training on the GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) Functionality Assessment Tool (GFAsT) on June 26–27, 2025, via Zoom.

This capacity-building activity was specifically organized for Regional Line Agencies (RLAs) and State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) to strengthen institutional mechanisms for gender mainstreaming.

The training aimed to equip GFPS members with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills on the utilization of the GFAsT, a standardized tool designed to assess the functionality and effectiveness of GFPS structures within institutions. The GFAsT serves as a vital mechanism for identifying areas of improvement and ensuring that Gender and Development (GAD) mandates are efficiently implemented and monitored.

The virtual training featured interactive discussions, hands-on tool demonstrations, and collaborative workshops that emphasized the strategic use of the GFAsT in evaluating GAD structures. Participants were able to gain insights on best practices, common challenges, and concrete steps for enhancing the performance and accountability of their respective GFPS.

Among the attendees were Dr. Ma. Cynthia Rundina-Dela Cruz, Director of the Gender and Development Resource Center (GADRC) at Cavite State University (CvSU), and Ms. Kate Angeline S. Hernando, In-charge for Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation of the GADRC. Their active participation highlighted CvSU’s ongoing commitment to advancing gender-responsive governance in higher education.

The successful conduct of this training underscores RGADC’s dedication to fostering gender equality and empowering GAD focal point systems across the region through continuous education and technical support.
